Tembleque
While looking for places to see the Perseid meteor shower with a good friend of mine, I stumbled upon this spot near Tembleque.
When you visit Castilla-La Mancha, you expect to see some amazing windmills with wooden blades so large they made the ingenious Don Quixote mistake them for giants. In reality, they are not as big as their cousins from the wind farm in the background, but for sure, they make a much more interesting landscape. There are three of them, although in the photo only one appears.
For what it is, a one-hour ride from Madrid is one of the best-looking spots with very little light pollution. Some light can be seen from nearby villages at low elevations, but it is practically imperceptible to the human eye and for high-elevation observations.
The continuous meteor shower and good weather allowed me to capture some of them and to make plenty of wishes.
